Our Zoo Adventure

We had the great fortune of enjoying being outside on June 1st...not a usual feat here in sunny AZ when the temps are normally 100+. However, and not to say I'm not going to jinx it all by writing about it, but we have had the strangest, "cool" (80s-90s) spring weather, that I have ever experienced in my time here. It has been just glorious. (I tell you, if it were like this every year, I don't know that we'd be in such a hurry to leave!) But, yesterday found us thrilled with cloudy skies, and though the day got to 90 something, it was very enjoyable with no sun. So, off we went to The Phoenix Zoo (without friends who had a sick kiddo that morning :( but were supposed to join us).
So we shared our pancakes with some ducks in a pond outside before heading in...

Dashed through the misters...

 Chased the poor peacock...

Checked out the flamingos, and a few other choice animals...

Had fun in the splash pads... (The cute, running away tushie in candy stripes is Ellie)

Walked through the monkey enclosure where we could get really close!

 Had lunch with the zebras...

Found a bird sitting on her eggs (ok, maybe his?)...

Posed for mommy...(a zillion times :)

Climbed to the top of the giraffe observatory...

 Got a rainbow snowcone....(yum!)

Let Aurie taste the coconut sorbet....

 Rode the carousel...

Spent over an hour in, around, and under our fav play spot- the wooden house where both girls directed the building of a dam in the little creek. (Seriously, you should have heard both of them telling all the kids to do this, do that!)

And changed in the car for a snuggly ride home....

Awww....(she asked me to take her picture in her "princess skirt" and this is the pose she gave me! :) And, who we discovered enjoys the middles of the oreos exclusively...I was unpacking and noticed all the outside cookies were left in the ziploc bag!
